"At the very least, we're treated decently."
Squeezing her hand, he felt slightly relieved. Stress was boring into him like a drill and his temples were throbbing with a terrible ache.
"Now that I'm chipped, I don't know how I could possibly help you."

"If you call that decent."
She grumbled under her breath and held her brother's hand for support. "You need to stay low Xyoukai. Let me think for us and all. We'll get out of this somehow. I'm not sure how, but we will. We must have faith." She heaved a deep sigh and leaned further into the chain as she felt the cold ice along her back.

He snorted, growing agitated with the subject.
"Talk to me Enjeru. Keep me sane. Tell me something, anything, other than that having to do with that organization." His head hung low, his ears drooped and tail still and hanging limp. He was obviously on the verge of depression if not already depressed.

"Well.." She pondered slightly. She probably had done alot as of late when he was gone and even when he had gone out. She didn't even know he was out until now. It kind of depressed her alittle. But here he was by her side again and she felt relieved. She smiled lightly.
"I met a kid...She seemed like a nice little girl. Crazy little thing talks to a paper frog. I think it's rather cute to have someone like that to talk to."

He grinned lightly, trying to imagine talking to an inanimate object. He couldn't quite place himself in the situation, but the image was well found in his mind. His only 'paper frog' was Enjeru, but in a sense, he felt like he was losing that delicate bond he had with her.
He would never mention the thought to her though. Even so, he couldn't hide the fact from himself. There had been a time when there was nothing hidden between them, but now, that time was slipping away. One last rose for the fading days. It had already been revealed to him that she didn't trust him any longer. At least not as much as she once had. She was keeping secrets now and that worried him.
Would Enjeru become a thing of the past?
He hoped not. Divine beings knew that he would kill for her. Be killed for her. He would do anything in her name. Maybe it was his fualt she was retreating from him. Had he been too protective? Probably. Maybe, since she knew she was all he had, she felt too much responsibility? He shut down his thoughts. He couldn't let his worry get out in the open. It would only make things all the worse.
"Who was she?"

Enjeru tilted her head slightly to her brother. She could feel a slight uneasiness in his vibes and it worried her alittle bit. Her ears pricked up and she felt a wave of silence for quite some time. Her eyes wavering up to the skies as she stared up at each speckled star. Adjusting her features more into the swing, but she still kept a hold of her brother's hand for safety.
"Satou."
She simply said as she kept her gaze up towards the skies. She too was worrying about so many things. Pondering and trying so damn hard to figure out what was going to happen next. This life and world was to damn hard to understand. It almost gave her a headache just thinking about it. She winced slightly and placed her free hand over her abdomen as she heaved a deep sigh.
"Hey Big brother? Remember back in the early 1700's? towards the end of it close to the 1800's? How peaceful it was back then? Even if the humans there were unintelligent..It was memorable there. I kind of miss the old days. It wasn't so complicated."

"The old days? They were nice... but now they're dead." He almost seemed to accentuate the word dead. So many thiings seemed dead now. He felt he would be as well, before long. He was losing things to live for one by one.
One by one, everything came tumbling down. How long until the domino chain reached him, he couldn't be certain.

"Not entirely..Some people still exist and when the time is decent. It can be real nice. Atleast the food's gotten better eh? Sweet cheesecakes, Chocolate pies, cherries." She laughed slightly and shrugged. "Even if some of the major crime rates and arrogance has gone up, it's not like they're that troublesome."
She paused slightly and began to be mesmerized with the stars. They were bright enough to see and yet the lights from the streets still semi blocked out some of the stars. "But sometimes I wonder when we'll be able to see the stars clearly again." She smiled and half-glanced to Xyoukai before pushing herself up. Releasing her hold on his hand and elbowing him lightly. "Hey! I know! Let's go do something."

He, for the most part, ignored what she had said. He wasn't in any mood to hear about how good the world was. His outlook on life was rather bleak at the moment - a rare case for him - and he found no solace in small tales that made his surroundings come off better. Right now, he thought of it all as a load of lies.
Turning his gaze from the groun to her slightly, he tried to smile in reaction to her excited voice and movements. The smile was mutated and probably looked like he was about to vomit more than anything else. "Something like what?"

She frowned at him and eyed him slightly. Crossing her arms as she gave him a mere poutish-child look. Then she began to laugh and grabbed his hand as she yanked him to his feet and growled playfully.
"Xyoukai you loser." She taunted him. "I don't care what life tries to plan for us. We can do whatever we want. And shush! Don't argue with me. Now you're gonna get off your pouty couch and come get some food with me. Maybe we can go prowling the streets like nutcases again. Whatever it be, stop thinking so much. You're driving me mad when I try to figure out what is bothering you."
She turned her back to him and stared off into the streets. She smirked and shook her head. "Come on brother. Let's go."

He groaned as he was pulled up. His expression losing the would be smile and falling into something much more apathetic. He didn't feel like crawling into a small hole where he could die peacefully and with what little happiness he had left in him.
Behind his mental barracade, he kept asking himself where he went wrong even though he had a quite an idea of just what turn he took that brought him a long way off course. When she said let's go, he blinked slowly, moitening dry eyes in this action before he stepped forward in the direction of the street. He had absolutely no idea where he would go once he reached the sidewalk. Perhaps he'd keep going and the great gods would send a semi-truck to end his misery. Certainly not the best way to go but at least it could end it.

She slowly came up to his side as they walked towards the sidewalk. She cuffed her hands behind her back. Slowly looking to Xyoukai as she smiled lightly before looking away. Her ears twitched slightly as they reached the sidewalks. She slowly turned her body to make Xyoukai turn left as they walked up the sidewalks towards furthermore into Town.
"Xyoukai?"

"Hmm?"
He more sighed than actually made a sound. Questioning her reason sor saying his name. He turned naturally as she did. His shoes scuffing against the pavement and those baggy pants of his dragging behind his heels only added to the sound. His sight had gone back to the ground, his ears felled like once noble trees. He felt pathertic. He looked pathetic. He couldn't get the buzz of questions out of his head though.

"Something bothers you..Doesn't it?"
Even if it was difficult to conclude what was bothering her brother. It didn't take a rocket scientist, but merely a little sister to figure out that something was definatly bugging up his mind. After being close to him for almost centuries, she kind of clued off his expressions and the way he acted. She wrapped her arm around his and nuzzled him slightly.

And if she wasn't honest with him, he still had no reason to be dishonest with her.
"I feel like I'm losing everything that matters to me. I feel like I'm losing you, my mind, my individuality..."
It hurt to say what he had. His voice even wavered and he choked on a few words. His wing was held tight against his back, the once smooth leather-like membrane was now rough and torn. Battle weary and broken, he knew he was slipping out of reality's grasp.
"I think I'm dying, Love."
